Nice refreshments served and a lively walk around the grounds on a Spring day. Chatted to one of the volunteers (very friendly) who pointed us in the direction of some hellebore which we might have missed.

We were just stating wha a lovely visit we had had, when getting in our car a male NT employee made a sarcastic comment ‘thank you for parking so close ‘ as he made a fuss about getting in his car. There was a massive gap and no need for him to make us feel uncomfortable such a shame even if we had parked close which we hadn’t we don’t expect to be spoken to in that way when on a day out to one of your properties we have noted his car reg.

Wonderful and marvellous National Trust Property near to Wrexham in Northern East Edge of Wales with plenty of charm and character and also a very interesting past. The house dates back to 1682 where it was built by first owner Joshua Edisbury before being owned by John Meller and then inherited by The Yorke Family who lived there for generations before it was passed onto the Trust in the 1970s. The house is very impressive externally with stunning red bricked architecture and the house looks wonderfully compact and appears longer and elongated than some other National Trust Properties but is an absolute spectacular sight on the eye and brilliantly unique. The inside of the house is just as magnificent and amazing as the outside having grandeur and splendour in abundance with an array of outstanding room to see including The Drawing Room, New Kitchen, Butler's Pantry, Bakehouse and Servant's Passage, which all have a treasure trove of amazing items to see. There is some stunning photographs of servants that have served at the house in the Servant's Passage and there is some breathtaking silverware to see in the Butler's Pantry along with the Weeping Glass. The Dining Room has some interesting Neo Classical Columns and in the Drawing Room there is a stunning array of portraits and in the Music Room you can see a piano and another area of note is the Chapel which some fantastic wooden furnishings and stained glass windows. The gardens themselves are amazing and brilliant where you come excellent topiary with trees in a pyramid style and breathtaking views of the large ponds, which make for a nice relaxing comfortable walk from the house and from the ponds you can enjoy some amazing spectacular views of the House and in the spring months you can enjoy spectacular displays of Daffodils and Snowdrops and during the summer months there are amazing displays of Roses and the pick of the areas of the gardens are The Paterre and garden as the displays are amazing. The victorian Glasshouses are also a spectacular sight and there are some outbuildings such as Stables which make for an interesting walk around where you can see old Carriages and there some old motors which are in fantastic condition. The Old Saw Mill is also another great place where you can see some interesting feats of engineering and an Old generator. The Parkland of the property is fairly vast with an range of excellent walks and brilliant views of the local landscape. There is a restaurant selling a wonderful range of food and drink at reasonable prices and there is a lovely range of souvenirs in the gift shop at affordable reasonable prices. The staff on site are very pleasant, friendly and helpful making the experience all the more excellent. Overall this is a fantastic and spectacular place to visit, which makes for a very pleasant, relaxing and enjoyable day out. Well worth a visit whilst in the area or Wrexham.

The house and gardens are really interesting but the facilities leave a lot to be desired. On the day we visited the small cafe was only serving pasties and there was only one person serving. There was no where to sit and we had to find a bench somewhere outside. The main restaurant was rammed with the queue extending out of the door and down the stairs.

NT’s biggest restoration project and their 2nd largest collection of things. The house is really interesting and there are delightful gardens and several walks. Visiting in late February, there was a lot just being reopened an undergoing a deep clean. Still fascinating though.

Enjoyed exploring the servants 'downstairs' and learning about the family who lived here. Many of the family's possessions are on display. Pleasant stroll around the lake and gardens, even in the depths of winter. Friendly, helpful volunteers and good food and drinks in the café.

Visited on Sunday and although the weather was miserable, our trip to Erddig was lovely. The volunteers were all so friendly and informative, a pleasure to talk to. The house itself was a good experience to walk around and there were interesting items everywhere. Sadly the bedrooms were closed to be professionally cleaned but there was already enough to see. Restaurant staff were also very friendly and we had some tasty breakfast before wandering around, hot chocolate was a win.

Was our first time visiting and we were impressed on a very cold February morning, we were able to park which was a bonus and then upon arrival we had a small wait to show our cards and make our way in, staff were welcoming and very friendly and informative throughout. The house was beautiful well preserved like stepping back in time all the smells just wonderful!! There is a lovely shop on site where we purchased some lovely chutney and there was a restaurant upstairs but we didn’t visit on this occasion definitely next time all in all a really nice visit and lots of outstanding walks to be had can’t wait for the summer visits.
